What to do if your phone is stolen

Quick steps to protect your Coinwaka account and M-Pesa if your phone is lost or stolen.

If your phone is lost or stolen, act quickly to protect your accounts.

Do this right away

  1. Sign out of Coinwaka on the lost device. From another device, sign in and end active sessions in security settings, then change your password.
  2. Protect your SIM. Contact your mobile operator to block the SIM, since attackers can target M-Pesa and SMS codes.
  3. Check your authenticator. If you used an authenticator app on that phone, restore 2FA using your recovery codes on a new device.
  4. Review recent activity for anything you did not do, and contact support if something looks wrong.

Why this matters

A transaction PIN and 2FA mean a thief cannot move funds with the phone alone. Recovery codes let you regain access without the lost device. Set both up before you ever need them.
